What Makes One Neighborhood More Expensive than Others?

Sometimes the difference between an expensive and an inexpensive housing area can be a single street.  America has a long history of drawing impossible-to-follow lines between what land is expensive and what land isn’t: and yet it’s still confusing to tell why an area leans either way.

These are some of the main reasons why the prices can vary so deeply in a simple area, and what you should look out for whether you want to save money or buy some investment property!

Location Matters

What is this house close to?  Does it have access to popular parts of town?  Is it near a highway that allows you to get into a major city faster?  Consider what factors of the location affect the price.  This could also refer to homes in rural areas, like many parts of Louisiana, where you can buy a home for seemingly pennies on the dollar.  Although there’s more to home buying than just saving money, this saved expense can help you afford more property for your investment.

Who Built The Properties

The architect who designed the properties matters!  If this person was well known or famous, it could triple the cost of a home.  If a neighborhood has several homes like this, it will raise the entire area’s property value.

Likewise, if a neighborhood was a rush-build by a famous company for lacking effort: the property costs will plummet. So shop carefully, and pay attention to what trends are affecting the market. Of course, you don’t have to buy famous Charlotte houses for sale to ensure you’ll make your money back when you sell, but it doesn’t hurt to check its history and builder before you buy.

When Was It Built?

A new build area will almost always be more expensive to move into.  If yor their homes in newly built neighborhoods as they’re built, instead of hoping an older house has them or can be made into them easily.  A newer community is almost always going to be more expensive.ou’re in a neighborhood built in the 1950s, unless the home designer is famous, the property costs will be lower than in a new housing project with brand new and beautiful homes.  A large reason for this is that people can seek out certain perks or niceties f

Are There Any Neighborhood Perks?

Some areas are more expensive simply because they have more to offer.  These areas may have pools, walking trails, exercise parks, or just general kids’ parks.  These amenities make a room more desirable and therefore more expensive.  Although you could say that most neighborhoods have some things going for them, these perks are often at a higher caliber in costly areas.

Regardless of whether you’re putting money into a less expensive option or not, there are surprisingly large differences between properties less than a mile apart. So ensure that you shop around and that you don’t give up if the first few homes you look at are pretty pricey.  With some good research, you’ll find a perfect fit in no time.
