How to Have an Awesome Copenhagen Family Vacation

Does your family love to take vacations together each summer? If you find it is a great time for the entire family to come together, share some experiences and rekindle that close relationship, we have a great destination for your next family holiday.

Copenhagen may not be the first city on your list of European capitals to visit, but it is a surprising gift of beauty and family fun. It has plenty of ways that your family can explore the city as a group or even on their own. They have developed some great holiday accommodation in Copenhagen that are perfect for a family vacation getaway. Best of all, it is a city where you can walk around, enjoy all the city has to offer and yet be only a short drive from quiet beaches and forest. So, for a holiday your family can have the best of both worlds. Here are a few more reasons you just may want to choose this incredible Northern city for a family getaway this summer.

A Garden of Delight

In the center of the city is a garden disguised as an amusement park, Tivoli Gardens. The city has developed a gorgeous park with a lake at its center, where there are small boats you can use to explore the park further. Best of all, it is bordering a very inventive theme park.

The theme park uses the stories of native son Hans Christian Andersen to create not only thrilling rides, but ones that are pretty on the outside as well. Its roller coaster is renowned for its virtual reality option that takes you on a very adventuresome and immerse thrill ride. There are rides for kids of all ages, places to walk and enjoy if you aren’t the kind that enjoys a screaming afternoon and so much more.

A Day at the Zoo

Not everyone loves amusement parks, and so for the rest of us there is an abundance of nature loving attractions. These include both the Aquarium with its wealth of walk-through tanks and of course the zoo. It is a modern one, with plenty to see and do while you are there.

Be sure to consider the handcarts for the toddlers as the place is pretty spacious and the walk can be long for them. But they will stay enthralled through it all, with peacocks to chase and baby animals to watch. While your teens may roll their eyes at the idea of spending a day at the zoo, the little ones will thrill to the idea of seeing lions and tigers and bears – oh my!

Experiments in Science

If your kids are fascinated by science then you just may want to take that ten-minute trip on the S-tog (their above ground transit system) to Hellerup’s Experimentarium. This is a giant science center designed specifically for kids, and fascinating even to us grown ups. Designed to keep them engaged it is a giant playground of science interactions that will fascinate kids of all ages.

These three are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to family fun in Copenhagen. Be sure to explore more posts for yet more ideas on where to go in the city that loves to explore with you.
